Skye Camanachd Social Club Success! | |
13 August 2008 The Skye Camanachd Social Club has seen a great turnaround in the last 12 months. Just under a year ago, the Social Club held 2 public meetings where they disclosed debts totalling £25,000. This was debt in the form of a Bank of Scotland overdraft of £13,000 and an amount of unpaid bills totalling a further £12,000. In less than a year, the Social Club has paid all the unpaid bills and has reduced the overdraft with the Bank of Scotland to £6,000. This is a fantastic turn-around by the small group of members on the Social Club Committee. The financial position does not include the income received from running the bar at last week's Agricultural Show. Skye Camanachd Chair Martha Ross paid tribute to the Social Club Committee saying "I can't thank the Committee members enough for their efforts. The financial turn-around has been fantastic and it's great to see the hard work paying off. There have also been a dedicated group of volunteers who have helped with tasks such as bar rotas, providing meals at shinty games and collecting membership fees. They have all played their part in this success." The Skye Camanachd Social Club Committee members are Martha Ross - Chair, Janet MacVicar - Vice-Chair, Phil McCaherty - Secretary and Donnie Martin and Ross Cowie also sit on the committee. Jacqui Murchison continues to provide financial information and Morag Palmer is the main contact for Membership subscriptions. |
