Kinlochshiel 2 Skye Camanachd 1. | |
12 July 2008 A last gasp goal from Shiel wins the points in this local derby. Skye suffered an injury disrupted first half, losing full back Steven Morrison after 5 minutes with a recurrence of the ankle knock he picked up in the Balliemore Cup semin final win against Glenurquhart. Gareth Roberts came on as sub with John Moir taking over the full back slot and Jamie MacDonald moving from wing centre to half back. Kerr Gibb moved from half back to wing centre with Roberts taking up Gibb's role. Then Jamie MacDonald ppicked up a back injury and was replaced by Aonghas MacDonald. Shiel had the best of the first half and took the lead through a Calum MacLean shot from distance after 33 minutes which dropped under the bar. The score remained the same until 15 minutes from the end when Alan Palmer levelled the match with a terrific goal. Skye then had what appeared to be a good Ian Nicolson goal disallowed by referee Ron Kennedy. A couple of great saves by Shiel keeper Graham Kennedy looked to have confirmed a share of the points before a Scott MacLean drive in injury time was deflected off a Skye defender's caman to give Shiel both points.
