Five Skye Camanachd Players Selected For Scotland U17 Squad. | |
03 July 2008 Five Skye Camanachd players form part the Scotland Under 17 squad which meets up at the weekend. Scotland’s most promising Under 17 year old shinty players will travel to Ireland for a three day competitive tour, culminating in challenge matches against the Dublin Under 17 Development Squad.
The young Scotland select side, with 34 players drawn from 16 clubs across Scotland from Lewis Camanachd in the Western Isles to Aberdour in Fife, will travel to the Dublin area from 5-9 July 2008. Selection to represent their country is the highest accolade that any sport can bestow on a player and the trip encompasses six games over the course of the three days. However the trip will also allow the young players time to celebrate Celtic culture, sample a wealth of Irish folklore and develop proven lasting friendships through competition and social contact. This squad is just part of the pathway that the sport of shinty offers to youth players across the country.
Skye Camanachd will be represented by Jamie MacDonald, Andrew Banks, Shockie MacLennan, Danny Morrison, and Neil John Campbell. The players will join up with the squad after their games for the Skye Camanachd fisrt and second teams on Saturday.
