| North of Scotland Primary Sixes To Be Held In Portree. | |
| 19 June 2008 The Camanachd Association has confirmed that the 2008 North of Scotland Primary Sixes will be held in Portree for the first time on Saturday 6 September 2008. This is a great boost for Primary School shinty on the island with several local teams being able to take part in the competition. Skye Camanachd youth coach Willie Cowie said "This is a reward for the Skye based Primary School shinty teams who have travelled the length and bredth of Scotland to participate in Schools Camanachd and Camanachd Association events and we hope for a large number of entrants". Portree Primary School were runners up in this event in 2005 and won it in 2006. The will start amongst the favourites this year as they are current MacKay Cup holders. A local committee will be set up to liaise with the Camanachd Association to organise the event. The competition will take place at Pairc nan Laoich, Portree. | |
